Seven Story Building Proposed to Replace Surface Parking Lots on Spring Street

Next week’s Downtown Commission meeting will be a busy one, with three new development proposals introduced for conceptual review. One of those proposals is from Riewald Development, a new Columbus-based firm, that could replace two gravel parking lots with a seven story residential building.

If built as proposed, the 30,000 square foot building located at 267 E. Spring Street would include 132 residential units, 112 internal parking spots, and a 1,600 square foot retail space facing the corner of Spring Street and Neilston Avenue.

“This area of Downtown has tremendous potential with a growing resident base, walkable neighborhood amenities, and an emerging entertainment scene,” stated Jon Riewald, Managing Member of Riewald Development. “We are looking to build off the momentum in the surrounding area and inject life into this stretch of Spring Street, with the hope that our project spurs further investment.”

Over 8,000 square feet of the first and second floor would also be devoted to residential amenities, including co-working and fitness spaces.

“It’s always exciting to take a surface lot out of circulation and replace it with something that moves a neighborhood forward,” added Riewald.

Additional details on the project are expected during the April 25th Downtown Commission Meeting.
