The final two weeks of holiday shopping are upon us! That means that if you still have gifts to buy for friends and loved ones, your time is winding down. In order to assist, we’ve reached out to a wide variety of local shops, stores, and boutiques to find out which of their three most popular “must have” items can still be found on their shelves.
Next we have three suggestions from Jessica Carle at the Cheesecake Boutique, which relocated and reopened in August.
“Our First holiday must-have is the OTK, also known as the over-the-knee boot. If you’re looking to add a new kick to your wardrobe this winter, this trend has your name on it. While we started to see over-the-knee boots last season, they have become a very major trend for the new season. Spotted on the catwalks of such designers as Chloé, Prada and Christian Louboutin, the F09/W10 runways showed scads of ways to wear the OTK boots. But it was Madonna, rocking Louis Vuitton’s thigh high creations at the Met Gala earlier this year that made the over-the-knee this season’s It-boot.”
“Skinny jeans and leggings have been key pieces for quite a few seasons now, so it was only a matter of time before “Jean Leggings”, or “Jeggings” would become a wardrobe must-have. Colors and Textures have shifted from season to season, but that tight, lean look has remained constant. Starting in Japan and then migrating to the U.K. before coming stateside, jean leggings have been spotted on celebrities style mavens like Kate Bosworth, Rihanna and Beyonce. Dark, clean denim leggings can look sophisticated with a tunic and high heels. Or, channel your inner rock star by pairing with a belted long graphic t-shirt and motorcycle jacket. Buffalo David Bitton does a denim legging that looks just like a great pair of skinny jeans, but so much easier to pull on for $79.00.”
“The statement necklace is a key accessory this season and a must-have for the holidays. On the Spring 2010 runways, the most important necklace silhouette is the bib. These over-sized ornate works of art can make even the most simple outfit special. Chanel, Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg, Bottega Veneta and Lanvin all showed bib necklaces which were tough yet glamorous. These chic pieces of style armor are surely a sign of many more necklaces to come.”
