Shop Talk: Birch is Making its Home in Olde Worthington

Since its soft opening at the end of September, Birch has made its presence known in the Olde Worthington community at 689 High Street. With catchy window displays and a welcoming staff, passers-by are welcomed to stop in and peruse their selection.

The opening of this boutique is a long-time dream of owners and sisters-in-law Lindsay and Kellie Harrington. Kellie brings over five years of marketing experience to Lindsay’s years of boutique management experience, and with their combined natural affinity towards fashion, the duo has laid the groundwork for a successful business.

The boutique’s name was inspired by a family home in Michigan, which is nestled in a quiet forest of birch trees. The pair wanted the calming essence of the birch to be carried over into their brand. The peaceful, laid back atmosphere of the space is accented by hand-made wooden pieces throughout, all carved and constructed by various family members.

A few of the brands Birch carries include Amuse Society, Free People, BB Dakota, Nic + Zoe, Alo Yoga, and Tularosa, among many others — as well as select home accents and handmade, one-of-a-kind jewelry. They also offer advice for how to pair pieces to best match their customer’s appearance. The owners even suggest that guests bring in their own articles of clothes for help with pairing together an outfit.

Lindsay and Kellie plan to launch a website in early 2017 to offer limited online shopping and to connect with their clients. Currently, they operate their Facebook and Instagram accounts, updating with sales and events happening in the boutique.
