Owners Jared and Liz Hughes have been operating out of their current location for five years. Jared initially started his plant business while in college by growing and selling succulents at flea markets. Little by little his business grew and he was able to build a greenhouse. After marrying Liz, she joined him in the business and together they purchased the current property in 2015 and began a larger retail location. They grow about half to two-thirds of their plants, sourcing some of the hard-to-come-by plants from other greenhouses.

Groovy Plants Ranch is known for its large selection of unusual succulents and wide variety of houseplants, carrying a little bit of everything across their three buildings. The School House carries bulbs, seeds, artisan goods, and ranch merchandise. The Mercantile is a greenhouse that is home to succulents and cacti, along with ceramic pots and planters. The Jungle Hut is a greenhouse that holds low-light houseplants, including a Rare Plant Vault that has unique plants such as Dragon Jade, Monstera Peru, and Golden Dragon.

The knowledgeable, plant-loving staff at the ranch is eager to help customers find the right plant for them. They are available to offer suggestions, answer questions, and troubleshoot issues. In the spring, the ranch is hoping to offer educational classes on plants and succulents along with craft-type events where patrons can pot a plant while enjoying a glass of wine.

Although they had an online presence before the pandemic, Groovy Plants Ranch expanded their online shop during quarantine. Customers can now purchase plants, pots, soil, fertilizer, gift cards, and merchandise online. They also offer easy shipping as well as curbside pickup.

In addition to their greenhouse plants, the ranch offers seasonal goodies. In the summer they stock fruits and veggies, in the fall they carry mums, gourds, and pumpkins, and in the winter they offer poinsettias and gift sets.

In 2020, they added a new greenhouse and concrete runways and walkways.

Groovy Plants Ranch is open year-round, seven days a week from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information or to shop their online store, visit GroovyPlantsRanch.com.
