If you’re in the market for vintage home furnishings or just looking for a unique handcrafted gift, you should consider popping in to SoBo Style.

Located at 3282 N. High St., SoBo Style is ground zero for goods that reflect a modern yet comfortable Midwest cottage style.

“All of our vintage furniture is worked on, repaired, and brought back to life,” said Katie Palmer, owner of SoBo Style. “We also have many pieces created from salvaged pieces, such as our signature windowpane cabinets made from recycled windows and old pine barn siding.”

Many of the shop’s regulars considered its gift selection their go-to for special occasions, she added.

After being in business for 12 years, SoBo Style has gained a faithful clientele with whom staff frequently discuss decorating ideas.

The store’s blog is another resource for customers, especially for those who live outside Central Ohio but want to keep up with SoBo Style’s changing merchandise mix.

“We have built lasting relationships with our customers, suppliers and community,” Palmer said. “We continue to grow and change which keeps our customers coming back over and over. We strive to inspire our customers on a daily basis, which keeps us unique.”

In fact, helping customers discover their personal style and find items that meet their needs is one of Palmer’s favorite parts of the job.

“It is incredible to remember the new mother purchasing a dresser for the nursery and is shopping for a vanity for her teenager’s room,” she said.

Palmer attends tradeshows across the country in search of merchandise for the shop. However, she also sources a considerable portion of its product line from local artists.

Prior to opening SoBo Style, Palmer worked in fashion merchandising in the San Francisco Bay Area.

“After moving back home, I knew I wanted to open a boutique-style home furnishings shop in Clintonville where I grew up,” she said. “I saw the potential in Clintonville and wanted my business to be part of it.”
