Shop Talk: Swoon Rugs Offers Vintage and Sustainable Rugs and Home Decor

Swoon Rugs, located at 51 Kingston Ave. on the South Side, has been offering vintage and sustainable rugs in Columbus since early 2019. Originally launched in 2016 in Kentucky in the home of owner Tabi Mund, Swoon Rugs moved to Columbus when Mund relocated to the area for her husband’s job.

Mund studied interior design at the University of Kentucky and has previously worked for a New York-based online interior design company and in a showroom. During her time assisting clients with interior design, Mund realized how hard it was to find good, quality rugs. She began to work with rug vendors to have a better selection to offer clients.

Mund built relationships with vendors and worked to get established in the industry. She started out marketing rug vendors, and that eventually led to Swoon Rugs. Mund now works with vendors to curate a showroom, storefront, and online store that offers a range of vintage, imported, and sustainable rugs.

Swoon Rugs carries vintage and handmade small home goods and imported textiles as well. The shop also stocks vintage furniture that Mund has refinished to give a more updated look.

Swoon Rugs is open to the public on Mondays from 10 a.m – 4 p.m. and by appointment. Mund works with clients to find the perfect rug for their space, and she also offers her interior design services.

More information and products can be found on Swoon Rug’s website at SwoonRugs.com.
