    Skybus nixes Oakland/San Francisco route

Business First of Columbus wrote Skybus summer tickets up for sale; Oakland route cut

Skybus said it will stop service between Port Columbus International Airport and Oakland, Calif., on May 31.

The company started flying to Oakland in June 2007 but revealed plans last October to drastically reduce its trips to the West Coast. Skybus cut service to Bellingham, Wash., last month and ended one of its daily flights to Burbank, Calif. It plans to end a daily flight to San Diego on March 7.

Skybus spokesman Bob Tenenbaum told Business First earlier that rising jet fuel costs, the time-consuming cross-country flights and the company’s plans to redeploy its fleet elsewhere played into the route-reduction decisions.
