    Six Finalists Chosen for Central Ohio Social Entrepreneur of the Year Awards

    Six finalists have been announced for the second-annual Central Ohio Social Entrepreneur of the Year Awards hosted by The Metropreneur and Rotary District 6690.

    For-Profit Companies

    Azoti – Shortening the distance between food suppliers and food eaters, Azoti allows individuals, businesses, schools and other organizations to buy food subscriptions from farmers, ranchers and food artisans. Smaller producers have a guaranteed outlet for their goods, while  consumers have more say in what sort of quality produce and goods they consume.

    CleanTurn International – CleanTurn provides fruitful employment opportunities for individuals who have had significant obstacles to employment in their past. The team provides demolition and deconstruction, grounds keeping, janitorial and other general labor services to customers. 

    LittleDavinci – Providing necessary dollars to strengthen ailing art education programs, LittleDavinci allows users to turn their photos into custom products. When customers purchase one of the many options available, 20 percent of the profits go back to art education programs at the schools of their choice.

    Nonprofit Companies

    Columbus SOUP – Columbus SOUP wants to change how Central Ohioans think about philanthropy. At SOUP’s quarterly events, $7 gives attendees a chance to connect with other community members over dinner and vote to fund projects that will improve the community.

    Design Outreach –  Design Outreach is a humanitarian engineering nonprofit delivering life-transforming solutions for poor and under-served communities. The founders strive to create a platform so volunteers, donors and developers can connect to scale products and implement lasting solutions in communities.

    Forge Columbus – Forge Columbus brings together leaders in business, nonprofits, and government to address the city’s shared challenges. Through a series of events, Forge creates a platform for entrepreneurs who want to build a stronger city through new methods and technologies.

    Social entrepreneurship uses entrepreneurial principles and practices to create ventures aimed at solving social problems. Winners will be announced on Thursday, May 22 at an awards ceremony in the Community Room at 600 W Goodale Street from 6pm to 8pm. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
