A new daycare for dogs recently opened on Main St and Washington Ave. Jennifer Lyons opened The City Dog three months ago. The space was originally Doggie Daycare which moved to a new spot on Mound Street. Jennifer spent eight years as an event planner so she is able to put together really fun events for you and your dog such as birthday parties. They handle all of the event planning, from the invitations to the favors to the games. They also offer full service grooming, overnight care, dog training and healthy dog foods in addition to daycare. The facility is able to keep up to forty dogs in daycare and five to eight dogs for boarding.
What can your dog expect from a day of daycare at The City Dog? Jennifer says a typical day includes “being dropped off between 7am-10am. They are usually pretty excited so they play ball, run and play with their friends and play in our outdoor area. About 2-3pm, all the dogs usually lay down and take a nap. It is so funny how they all will slow down and then around 4-5pm they are at it again until they are picked up. They all have a favorite friend that they like to play with. It definitely puts a smile on your face as you watch the different breeds play and watch their true personalities come out.”
The City Dog carries an eco-friendly line of balls and bones called Planet Friendly. They are made out of a “bright, colorful and a rubber material that the dogs can’t destroy,” says Jennifer.
So what does it cost to put your dog in daycare? At The City Dog, a full day of daycare will run you $22, a half day $11. There are also frequent visitor programs available. They request dogs be spayed or neutered, current on all shots, six months or older and people and pet friendly. An overnight boarding will cost you $35-45.
The City Dog is located at 510 E. Main St., Columbus, OH 43215. Phone: 228-DOGS. Visit them on the web.
