The operation will be helmed by local Chef Dan Varga, who has built his experience in kitchens across the city, from Oscar’s and Tucci’s of Dublin, to The Refectory and Ray Ray’s.

“This has been a lifelong dream of mine and I am truly excited to share this news with the people and friends who have followed and supported me for years,” Varga said in a press release.

The new shop will give Varga’s Hungarian traditions a permanent home after previously operating the business as a pop-up.

The Hungarian Butcher will feature a combination of old world and new recipes building on classics taught to Varga by his first-generation Hungarian immigrant grandmother.

Charcuterie and other “meaty treats” available at the butcher shop will include cured meats like Szalonna, Kolbasz, Sonka, Lonza, and a variety of paprika-spiked  sausages, salamis, bacon, head cheese, hams and more. Classic Hungarian dishes like cabbage rolls will also make an appearance. Varga vows to work with local farmers, suppliers, and sustainable farms from Ohio.

When will The Hungarian Butcher open?

Updated 11/5/21! The Grand Opening of The Hungarian Butcher located at 2177 W Dublin-Granvillle Rd, Worthington, OH 43085 will be Friday Nov 12, 2021.
