Whether you’re looking for a night out on the town, or a place to entertain guests from another city, there’s plenty of destination-worthy spots to go around Columbus. Only one of those spots can be number one though, and our readers and editors selected the Short North once again as one of the best places to visit in Columbus, Ohio.
While the neighborhood has changed dramatically over the past several decades from it’s humble bohemian reputation, 2018 saw some of the most transformational changes to the strip of High Street thanks largely to the (nearly completed) streetscape upgrades that widened sidewalks, updated pedestrian crossings and improved parking meter areas. The neighborhood also saw the completion (or near completion) of multiple development sites that have not only started to free up locals from the construction detours and noise, but also have introduced the area to a slew of new businesses.
Some of those businesses new to 2018 include new restaurants (The Lox Bagel Shop and 1126 Restaurant), new bars (Monarch Cocktail Lounge and Food Hall), some re-opened restaurants (Mac’s and White Castle) and new salons (The Blowout Bar and Bishop’s). The neighborhood even got a new bookstore, a new cookie bakery, a new art gallery, a new parking garage and the fanciest 24 hour convenience store in the city.
