2022 was a big year for restaurant openings. Columbus and its suburbs saw the launch of dozens of new places to dine, with many more announcements of new spots arriving in 2023.
When we asked out readers to help identify the top new restaurants this year, their votes assembled a really nice list of 10 spots worthy of checking out. At the top of the list this year is Joya’s, the new casual restaurant from the top chef of 2022, Avishar Barua.
Joya’s fuses Bengali and American (and more) cuisines together in an approachable way, and serves guests in a very casual environment that fits right into the setting of historic Old Worthington.
“It’s no use in trying to pigeonhole the offerings, as the kitchen is clearly on an adventure in integrating elements for new experiences,” stated CU Food Critic Miriam Bowers Abbott in her recent review.
