    Town/Rich Street Bridge Project Updates

    The last time Columbus planned for a Downtown bridge over the Scioto River, bids for a Main Street span came in almost $15 million higher than expected. So here’s a bit of welcome news: When it’s to build a companion bridge between Town and Rich streets, city officials say they’ve found ways to do it for $9.5 million less.

    The bridge is to open in mid-2012 instead of mid-2013.

    The Main Street bridge, expected to open in October 2009, is considered a landmark project for Columbus, featuring a soaring arch over the Scioto River. The two new bridges are designed to accommodate growth in Downtown housing and redevelopment in Franklinton. Both will be pedestrian-friendly.
