Lots of new movie trailers this week, and not so much video game or tv trailers. Nonetheless, our “Trailer Roundup” series continues to provide a sampling of what’s coming soon each week for our pop-culture and multimedia-savvy readers. Here’s the latest and greatest:
Bad Moms
If there’s not yet an official designation for comedies where adults behave badly (The Hangover, Bad Neighbors, Sisters, etc), then there should be. Bad Moms is the latest installment in that sub-genre where a couple of fed-up middle class white mothers decide that they’ve had enough of the frazzled runs between soccer practice pickups and failing to strike a work/life balance in the office. The cliches run rampant, but a talented cast including Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Christina Applegate and Kathryn Hahn could make it worthwhile. In theaters on July 29th (although today would have been more appropriate).
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
The 14th main installment in blockbuster video game series Call of Duty promises to give fans more of what they expect: tactical-yet-action-centric warfare gaming on an epic scale. Infinite Warfare takes the action into Earth’s orbit as well, where space missions vary from first person action to ship-based combat. Of course, multiplayer will play a huge role, but the trailer doesn’t even begin to dive into that. The game arrives on PS4, Xbox One and Windows on November 4th.
Scream: The TV Series – Season 2
MTV’s Scream: The TV Series returns on May 30th to pick up where last season left off. A group of teenagers try to make sense of the murders that occurred in Season 1 while more is revealed about the city of Lakewood’s past murder sprees.
USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage
This new navy biopic, directed by Mario van Peebles) retells the story of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, the most deadly loss of life at sea in the history of the US. Nicholas Cage takes the helm of the film, directing his men both aboard the ship and as they float at sea, avoiding sharks and dehydration. In theaters on May 27th.
Fallout 4: Far Harbor
Open-world game Fallout 4 has some new add-on DLC, which takes players off the coast of Maine to a highly radiated area full of new challenges. The new addition is said to be the largest ever created for a Bethesda Studios game, adding lots of new game story and content. The release is available on Xbox One, PS4 and Windows on May 19th.
Urge
Former-Bond Pierce Brosnan takes on a villainous role in new flick Urge, where a powerful drug starts turning party kids into raving (pun intended) lunatics. Madness ensues. Coming to theaters on June 3rd.
The Shallows
Afraid of sharks? Then The Shallows is for you! A surfer (played by Blake Lively) gets stranded on a small rock only 200 yards from shore while her two friends are killed by sharks and she sits and awaits the same fate. Of course, you know she’s going to make it back to shore… but how? Coming to theaters on June 29th.
