New films, new tv shows and new video games galore. The internet is chock full of new trailers, and our weekly Trailer Roundup series gets them all in front of you so you don’t miss out on anything new. Here’s a look at the latest and greatest from the past week:
Dunkirk
Chris Nolan re-teams with Tom Hardy for another feature film called Dunkirk. The teaser doesn’t give a whole lot away, but we know it’s a war film set during WWII, where allied soldiers are surrounded by German forces. Coming to theaters on July 21, 2017.
MARS
The National Geographic channel is launching a new “docuseries” about the potential future colonization of The Red Planet. The trailer shows both interviews with today’s scientists and tech leaders who offer insight into the concept while a dramatization shows what the event could be like within a few short decades. Mars launches in November.
Quake Champions
It’s been over a decade since we’ve seen the release of a Quake game, but Bethesda and id Software are ready to relaunch the series while hot on the heels of a successful Doom reboot this year. Judging from the multiplayer centric trailer released a few days ago, the game appears to be more of a sequel to 1999’s Quake 3 Arena, rather than 2005’s Quake 4, which focused more on the single player campaign. Either way, get ready for rocket jumping again in 2017.
XOXO
A group of young ravers hoping to achieve their dreams land at mega-festival XOXO where their lives cross in serendipitous ways, precisely timed with when the beat drops. The soundtrack looks legit with songs from Galantis, Skrillex, Diplo and many others. The movie streams on Netflix starting August 26th.
Antibirth
Natasha Lyonne and Chloë Sevigny star in a new horror flick where the former is mysteriously impregnated with some sort of demon baby that drives her crazy. The production values appear to be somewhere between indie arthouse and Troma-style b-movie schlock. Look for it in theaters on September 2nd.
Prey
Upcoming first person shooter Prey gets its first official “gameplay” trailer, that actually goes pretty light on the gameplay and heavier on the exposition. Which isn’t a bad thing if you’re lookign to avoid gameplay spoilers. But it’s certainly a bad thing if you want to see what gameplay looks like. Watch for it either way sometime in 2017.
Unit 4
If you enjoy pixel-art graphics and chiptune music, then you’re in luck. New action adventure game Unit 4 appears to be a 16-bit throwback title that will be landing sometime next year on the Xbox One.
