Treat to Try: Our CupCakery’s Half Moon Cupcake

I don’t get to Historic Dublin too often, but it is a charming area. Coming home from a trip to the zoo earlier this week, I once again forgot to take the road that goes under the bridge to continue on Riverside Drive. While sitting at the light, I remembered, oh yes! should head over there to get something. It was a bit of a challenge to find a parking space on a Monday during lunch time, but we did and stopped into Our CupCakery.

It’s a cute shop, they had about 10 flavors of cupcakes to try, and they had several different sizes, mini, regular, and jumbo. I decided to try their Flavor of the Month – the regular sized Half Moon Cupcake ($2.75). The Half Moon was about 2 inches tall with about half inch high mounds of vanilla and chocolate icings on top. It also had a small chocolate disk with white non pareils (similar to a Sno-Cap). You could really taste the cocoa powder in the chocolate icing. The vanilla was your usual buttercream. They were both sweet and creamy icings. The chocolate and vanilla cake that made up the cupcake were moist, had a nice crumb and good flavor. It didn’t stick to the wrapper and was evenly browned on the bottom. It was a nice combination of usual flavors.

Our CupCakery is located in Historic Dublin at 16 North High Street. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm and are closed on Sunday. There is parking available behind the shop. They also offer summer camps and decorating and baking classes and you can even decorate your own cupcake at their Cupcake Bar. Call them at 614-659-1555. Visit them online at www.ourcupcakery.com.
