The Columbus pricing for utilities is 12% higher than the Ohio average of $332 per month, and 13.4% higher than the national average of $328 per month. That combined bill includes electric, gas, water, sewer, waste and recycling fees.

When combined with other household expenses like rent/mortgage payments, car payments and insurance, Columbus still ranks 3.5% below the national average when it comes to those costs of living.

The bad news for the suburbs is that many in Central Ohio rank higher than Columbus in terms of average cost. Columbus is the 42nd most expensive place for those household bills in the state. Meanwhile, Dublin ranked #1 in the state for household bill expenses, Powell was #2, New Albany ranked #3, Hilliard #4 and Lewis Center #5.

According to the doxo report, the average mortgage payment in Columbus $1,131 per month, while the average rent payment is $944 per month. Columbus residents spend an average of $113 on cable and internet per month while the average cell phone payment is $95 per month.
