Work to Begin on Columbus’ First Bojangles

Twenty-two months after it was announced Bojangles would expand to Central Ohio, ground will break on the first area location later this week.

Work begins Thursday, January 5 at 831 Hilliard Rome Rd. The restaurant, situated in front of Menards just south of I-70, will be Ohio’s first Bojangles.

And more are on the way. The Hilliard Rome location is the kick-off to a 15-unit area expansion from quick-service restaurant franchisee Jeff Rigsby. Rigsby inked a development agreement with Bojangles to open 45 restaurants over the next several years. In addition to the Greater Columbus area, Rigsby is looking to expand in markets including Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Founded in 1977 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Bojangles has brought its chicken and biscuits to 780 restaurants, primarily across the southeastern U.S.

Now that work is underway, the wait won’t be long. The Hilliard Rome restaurant is slated to open in April 2023. Until then, the closest Bojangles locations are in Kentucky.
