With ongoing construction projects totaling $45 million, the zoo’s May opening of the Zoombezi Bay water park is only part of the future enhancement of the visitor experience at the complex following the 2006 buyout of Wyandot Lake.
While the more than 30-acre area under development is currently a muddy mess, by May, it will resolve into a comprehensive recreation destination, says Jerry Borin, executive director.
Borin says the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium is looking forward to a projected increase in attendance to 1.9 million in 2008, up from 1.5 million in 2007.
